The Valdivaeann Commune

The Validvaeann’s are an insectoid race, inhabiting a small cluster of star’s on the border of the area known as the Triangle, being semi-familiar denizens of the the Beta Quadrant, known for their ship yards, trading acumen, and worker production. In eon’s past, the Valdivaeann’s had been a hierocracy, but the need for a queen and court fell away approximately 500 years ago as they spread to the stars. Once they had settled all of the systems nearby that seemed worth the effort, the race settled into developing their worlds and resources to the limit. Pushing the evolution of their government was the dissatisfaction of the general populace in the old caste system (worker, warrior, ruling) which became blurred as they progressed and eventually gave over to their new desired form of a delegate model of representation. Over time, this pure form evolved to a more trustee model, though the Valdivadann’s definitely prefer to have more say in their government and political debate is a popular subject and pass time. The capital, Valdivae is in the Honir star system and consists of a class M planet with rich asteroid mining belt that encompasses a fairly large portion of the system. The Valdivaeann’s are an industrial race, but in the last century or so have become a more thoughtful one. Preferring to live underground, they had long before strip mined most of the surface of their planets, but now have taken to terra-forming as pet project, working with various guilds taking up pet projects.
