Mission: Missing!
Location: Mess Hall
Timeline: MD001 16:00 hrs

The Valiant's limited space made it the norm that accommodations had to be made and the space available had to be used for many different functions. In this case, the mess hall had been posted off limits for the next couple of hours while the Valiants officers held a meeting.

Curtis was getting a mug of coffee when he saw the Valiant's engineer enter and he hesitated for only a moment, before catching her eye and motioning her over to a corner booth.

As she sat, he said conversationally. "Captain's aboard, getting squared away in his quarters. He'll likely be here in fifteen cycles or so. Between here and there I thought I'd check in with you about the outburst on the bridge. I assumed it was situational and an in the moment kind of thing, but you know what they say about assumptions."

The XO took a sip from his mug, then smiled slightly "Val's a small ship. We haven't worked together much and not in stressful situations, so this is me checking on you."

Rianna looked at Curtis, "Sir, I have been through so much in my years if service that when a situation presents itself, and I can aid and help, I take the initiative. The station was in danger, the captain was tied up and could not communicate to us. Basically, all of us were in danger and I used my knowledge of chemicals and particals to figure out what type of explosives were used. I reported my findings and that was what happened. The combination of argine and solarium could have completely wiped out the station and every ship around her. As an officer, I could not allow that to happen. I make no excuses for my behaviour. Right now the safety of the captain's wife is paramount," she said sipping her beverage.

"I know she's the captain's wife, but she's Valiants Intel officer as well," Curtis stated. "And I appreciated the work and the initiative. As mentioned, I was assuming the outburst was a heat of the moment thing and if it turned out that it wasn't. If you had complaints or a comment to make, I'd give you the opportunity to do so."

"Commander, I realize that what I did was extreme but I felt it was justified. If I sounded like I was complaining, I apologize. I was frustrated and angry that it was done so brazenly. It was....as you say, 'in the heat of the moment' that it came out the way it did", Rianna stated.

Nodding, Curtis drank again and then set his mug down. "That's fine. Small ship dynamics vary but popping off aboard any ship isn't always healthy for your career." He smiled then, "No harm no foul, but I'd be a poor exec if I didn't talk to you about it, Rianna. In the future, try to hold off yelling at me until we're out of public earshot, hey?"

Smiling Rianna looked at Curtis, "Understood Commander and I appreciate you taking the time to speak to me," she said. "I promise I won't explode like that again," she added.

"Don't promise something you might not have control over," Curt grinned at the Betazoid. "But, I do appreciate the efforts."

Others began to arrive the executive officer pushed himself to his feet and gestured, "Looks like we're about to get started. I'm glad we had a moment to speak."

Smiling and almost forgetting herself, she stopped short and looked at the others filing in. "Yes I do believe you ate right Commander. I am glad we had this little chat", Rianna said softly.
