Mission: Aftermath and Downtime
Location: Sickbay

For the first time in years, Tavana considered to have her Klingon ridges restored. She had endured so much ridicule and prejudice because of them, that even now she still had mixed feelings about it. The one thing that drove her to think about it was that now, being so far away from her family, she wanted to do it to honor her heritage. Apart from her father, uncle and other family members being lost, she was not sure if she would see Q'uvat el TigH her family's home planet again. So she pursed her lips and made her way to sickbay.

As Tavana approached sickbay she sensed the inexplicably strange presence of the doctor she had met before at the party. If she thought meeting liberated Borg was confusing, this was more so. She nearly turned around, but pressed on anyway.

Mac walked out from the lab area of Sickbay, she grinned cheekily at the sight of the newly arrived Diplomatic officer, "Hello Tavana, is there something I can help you with?"

"Two things," Tavana said smiling. "What species are you? I am half Betazoid and your thoughts and presence are confusing," she admitted.

Mac blinked at her a moment and laughed softly shaking her head lightly, "That's the most blunt accusation I have gotten in years, I am humanoid, the rest you will learn as I decide if I can trust you or not, not offense meant of course but I don't often trust upon first few meetings." She regarded the taller half Betazoid, with a cheeky grin, "What can I help you with that actually applies to my duties in medical?"

"That's okay, I don't trust people either, but that is also my job," she responded with a smile. "I want to know if it will be possible to restore my ridges...I am half Klingon," Tavana explained . "It was removed when I was small..." she explained. There were a few other injuries, but she came for a particular reason, not for anything else.

Mac nodded her head, "I can do that for you, do you want me to get your physical out of they way while you're here as well or reschedule that for a bit later?"

Tavana shook her head and shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. "No, that won't be needed," she said with a friendly smile. The last thing she needed now was a doctor to give her a full examination. "Just the ridges, please."

Mac nodded and motioned to the bio bed, "Have a seat and get comfortable while I get my medical equipment. When do you want to get your physical done tomorrow afternoon or the day after?" She added as she turned around.

Oh crap! Tavana thought at first, but then what the heck replaced that. The injury on her scapula was hard to reach, and her ribs remain painful. She would have to get that seen to. "Whenever you have time, tomorrow is fine with me," she answered.

Mac walked back with her medical kit and nodded her head softly, "Anytime after 1045 hours is fine for you to come down. Otherwise if you can't we will go over possible times for the n ft day. Do you have any reference for the original shape of your ridges?"

"Actually not. They were not very pronounced. The doctor did say something about being able to restore them. My impression was that they could grow back or something," she explained. "They looked a little like B'elanna Torez's ridges," she added clumsily.

Mac hmmed softly a moment but then she walked over to her office and picked up a PaDD she did a search for the known Hybrid Klingon women in the fleet and whom had worked with the Fleet, and bought up the photos to focus on their for head ridges, and turned it around to show Tavana, "Which ones do you feel would be a good fit for you?"

Tavana immediately knew which was like hers were, but still studied some of the others too, but came back to her first choice. "This one, my ridges were like these," she said confidently.

Mac nodded softly and picked up the regenerator, "This will take a few treatments to fully take effect but it shouldn't take more than a few minutes for the next four days, but if you need me to schedule it to take into account of your work we can figure it out." She paused to look at her and offered up a gentle smile, "Shall I begin now?"

"Yes thank you," Tavana said, internally surrendering herself to the process, pushing her nerves aside. It was real now, she would never look the same again. She exhaled slowly.

Mac regarded Tavana before she started to regenerate the forehead ridges. "If you are not ready we can wait, I don't want to you to be stressed over this if you are not ready." Changing one's appearance mattered doing it for the right reasons also mattered.

"No doctor, go ahead. I gave this a lot of thought. I do this in honor of my father's family. I just want to look like what I am supposed to look like..." she said.

Mac nodded softly and gently began the process to return Tavana's ridges back to normal, it would likely feel odd and tingling for Tavana over the next few days but she should have no othe issues. After twenty minutes Mac stepped back and offered Tavana a mirror, "Here you are."
