Mission:
The Foragers
Location: Zulg's bar, Empok Nor.
Timeline: Right before and during Neverwinter Boom
"Double this when information proves true, yes? We'll call it three bars more I think, yes yes." Smiling, Brexis ran over what more to say. These two were looking for trouble alright. He just wanted to make sure none of it followed them back to him.
"Say yes, yes yes," he purred slightly, smiling and taking another pull from the hookah. "And I can tell you where to look for them. And perhaps name names."
"Agreed. Three more bars when the information proves valid and correct. Now continue." Gone was the flirtatious nature that Daynah had when they walked in. At this moment she was all business and had decided that at least for the moment she would play the game that Brexis wanted played.
Brexis looked around, scooped the pile of latinum closer and said, "Yes. It is the Ashen hand I think you are looking for, based on what little you've told me. They have been making more noise lately and word is that they are expanding and plan on causing more trouble. They are lead, from what I've heard by a human woman named Emma Morris, yes."
Thinking a moment more, he said, "She apparently goes by the name Cold Heart".
Daynah raised an eyebrow in the Vulcan fashion, this was all new information to her. She was sure that the computer on the Valiant could tell them a lot more about the Emma Morris woman. "Do you know the woman's whereabouts?"
Brexis considered that. He applied himself to the hookah and then his beverage, enjoying both and taking his new customers. Finally, he said. "Me? No. No no. She is lively for an incarcerated, dead woman. This I know. One of your Federation prisoners I believe. I do not know where she is. But, there is someone that might, yes yes. Do you know of the Foragers?"
"We are vaguely familiar with them. But why don't you tell us what you know. Of course there will be additional latinum in it for you." Daynah knew the way to get everything she needed and wanted from Brexis was through his wallet.
Pulling all of the money to him now, Brexis quickly and quietly gathered it into his sleeve, where the prepared material sealed around it, ensuring it wouldn't fall out or rattle. "Hrm. Yes. The Foragers," Brexis said. "You have the reassuring Federation. The mighty Klingons. The stoic, secretive Romulans and all the other powerful nations and organized groups. And then you have those that fall between the cracks, yet get a lot of things done that the others don't have time for."
Taking a long pull from the hookah, Brexis held then exhaled the smoke watching as the clouds reacted to the air by switching lazily through a comforting color spectrum. He could just make out a few shapes, like you did when cloud gazing. Then he came back to his point. "Yes. The disenfranchised. Those with no where else to go and fewer prospects to live their lives. Yes yes. They come together, like minded and form Forager clans."
"They travel like the old earth gypsies or the Klingon Ta-Varo, though less warlike. No. No. Whatever is not nailed down, and discarded a Forager clan will make use of. Improve it. Sell it. Make enough to move along before the authorities decide for them. Yes. Yes? Yes! They gather everything. And in the last few years, have become very apt information brokers. There was a Set come through here last week I heard, but they abruptly pulled out."
Daynah made sure to commit most of what he said to memory. Although whatever she missed would be recorded on the device she had hidden away. "You keep your ears open and tell us anything else that you may hear about them. In return we give you more and more latinum. Yes?"
"Maybe", Zulg committed. "Information is always a maybe game. But we can talk again, yes yes." He offered his two new customers hookah straws and said. "Would you be interested in a consignment of Cardassian Gu-Five Twenty One filters? Fits most like built, vessels in the ten thousand to fifty thousand ton classes, with a little modification of course. Very good deal, yes yes it is."
"No we are good in that department." Daynah replied with a smile. "Wouldn't even know what to with that many of them."
Between one second and the next, a low rumble could be felt more than anything throughout the stations deck. Collectively, it seemed like even the station held it's breath. Then emergency lighting kicked in and the sounds of concerned patrons rose in alarm.
Then the whole station shook.
Violently.
Brexis froze, taking in the sound. Trying to process what was going on. His comm flashed as a message announced over the stations public address.
"Attention. Please make your way to designated shelters. Our top concern is for your safety. Please maintain a safe and orderly transition." The station's computer voice was calm and reassuring.
The tension in the station was not.
Looking at his comm, Brexis stood. "There have been explosions. Four from what my ship is telling me. Three on the docking ring, and one in the lower decks area. Security will be on high alert. I suggest we all get ourselves somewhere else. I will leave messages with Zulg for you if I find more. I suggest you do the same."
And with that, Brexis stood and was moving toward the door with his security guars moving ahead and behind him.
Daynah waited for Brexis to get out of ear shot and then turned to Jayden. "We should get back to the ship on the double. Find out if this is connected."
Jayden nodded. "Aye, ma'am." He let Daynah move first and then he followed.
